MRIC Accomplishments

A few of the significant contributions the MRIC has made at Children's Memorial include:

• Support of the Children's Memorial Research Center construction and expansion
• Creation of a professorship in neurobiology
• Creation of the Bernard L. Mirkin, PhD, MD, Research Scholar
• Support for nephrology research
• Support for renovation of the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU)
• Creation of an integrative medicine program to study the use of non-traditional therapies in treating children
• The purchase of the INTRABEAM System used to treat brain tumors, making Children's Memorial the first pediatric hospital in the nation to have this technology
• Establishment of a current use fund to support brain tumor research
• An endowment for the genetics program
• Establishment of a current use fund to support neurobiology research
